Maks, what was your background to joining the blue-and-white team from Mielec like?
I received a call from my manager that FKS Stal Mielec was expressing interest in me. He asked me if I was ready for a change and, to be honest, I didn’t give it a second thought. Immediately during the conversation I confirmed that I wanted to join the Stal team.
Sometimes on the Internet somewhere you hear the term “Organisationally Stal Mielec”, have you ever heard this type of texts and did it not discourage you from joining our team?
People who say this do not know the realities of the football world “from the inside”. Most people who are in this environment know how strong, developed the club from Mielec is and how well organised it is. At Stal Mielec, I know that I will be able to focus 100 per cent on the game, because the club is stable in every respect.
Before coming to Mielec, did you talk to Bartek Mrozek about Stal?
Yes, Bartek spoke in glowing terms about the club. He said that he had very fond memories of his time at Stal Mielec. He said that I would definitely find my place in the blue-and-white colours, because everyone in the club knows each other well, there is a friendly, even family atmosphere, so I will always be able to count on the help of others.
At Stala you want to develop your skills even further and help the team fight for league points, and which footballer do you look up to? Who is your idol?
Some time ago it was Virgil van Dijk, but currently my role model is Antonio Rüdiger.
At the club we have a division between team Barcelona and team Real Madrid. In that case, can I add you to the ‘Royal’ team?
Yes. If I have to choose between FC Barcelona and Real Madrid then I will ask for my name to be added to ‘Los Blancos’. (smile)
You’re already a few days behind you in the PGE FKS Stali Mielec team. With whom have you caught the best contact during this time?
There is a fantastic atmosphere in the whole team, as Bartek Mrozek mentioned to me, so I have a good contact with every player, but of course I “stick” with the youth players the most. Gery as well as Mateusz Stępień and Mateusz Dudek welcomed me very nicely in the changing room and we quickly bonded.
What do you see as assets in your game and what do you know you still need to work on?
I want to develop all the time in every aspect of the game, to be a better player and help the team as much as possible. I think I’m finding my way well in leading out and playing the ball. What do I still need to work on? I think overall on the defensive game I want to improve in every training session so as not to let down the trust of the staff, the club and the blue and white fans.
Do you set yourself any individual goals for the spring round of the PKO BP Ekstraklasa?
I want to work through this preparatory camp as well as possible to show the coach that I am ready to play in the starting eleven. This is my goal- to play in every match of PGE FKS Stala Mielec. And if I add 2-3 goals and 3-4 assists then I can say that I am satisfied with myself. The most important thing anyway is that we, as a whole team, take the highest possible place in the table. At the end of the season.
