Paweł Żyra after the match against Jagiellonia Białystok [wywiad]

On Monday evening, a team from Białystok came to Mielec to fight for their first away win of the season. After the final whistle of referee Damian Kos, the teams shared points and the match ended with a score of 1:1. The goal for Jagiellonia Białystok was scored by Jesus Imaz, while for Stal Mielec, Mateusz Mak.

After the game, we asked our player, Paweł Żyra, for a brief comment.

How would you assess today’s meeting in the heat of the moment?

The first half didn’t go as we wanted, the Jagiellonia Białystok team scored a goal quickly, which meant we had to chase the result from the start. Fortunately, we entered the second half well and quickly scored a goal that spurred us on.
We dominated coach Maciej Stolarczyk’s team in the second half of the game, so it is even more of a shame that we did not manage to score another goal.

How would you evaluate the first half in one word and the second half in one word?

In one word, it’s certainly difficult to assess it. The first half we assumed ourselves that we would play completely differently. However, despite the unfavourable result we picked ourselves up and the second looked better. We created a couple of good goal-scoring situations, so we are unhappy that we only got one point.

Fans will probably agree with the statement that you played a very good game and were the standout player in our team.

I certainly don’t see it that way, the most important thing today was the three points, but unfortunately we didn’t manage to get them. I’m happy to be back in the starting line-up, but the most important thing is to stay up as soon as possible.
