Interview with Jacek Klimek – President of the Management Board

Currently, our blue-and-white team is training in L’Abair,Spain ,and we present you with an interview with Jacek Klimek, President of the Management Board of FKS Stal Mielec. The conversation touches, among other things, on the costs of organising a camp outside our country.

Mr President, were the weather conditions in Spain the main reason for choosing L’Abair and not Turkey?

Definitely yes. The last two stays in Turkey have shown that this area is way overrated when it comes to weather. We trained in the rain and even snow and, on many occasions, gusty winds prevented the training unit from running smoothly. There were also days when we did not leave the hotel for training precisely because of the terrible weather. There were two choices: either a secure climate in Spain, or we stay in Mielec.

Is Puszcza Niepołomice preparing for the start of the spring round of the PKO BP Ekstraklasa in Poland? I understand that we also considered this option?

Yes this option was considered for a very long time because of the costs. We decided to invest
in quality and we hope that this will bring tangible results in the second round. An additional argument for leaving Mielec for this important time was the fact that the balloon installed on the full-size pitch, which is owned by the City Council, was once again damaged and was blown down by the wind. The result-we had nowhere to train in freezing temperatures.

Has the Chairman contacted Piast Gliwice to get an opinion on the weather conditions as well as those relating to the sports infrastructure at L’Abair?

I confirm, we have a very good relationship with Piast Gliwice and we were able to gather all the information about the stay in Spain without any problems. The team from Gliwice, every year chooses this destination as the place for their preparations and they are always satisfied with this decision.

Is the cost of a training camp in Spain higher than those organised in Turkey?

Yes, it is a bigger expense, but as I have already mentioned, we want the team to prepare in the best possible conditions for the start of the spring round of PKO BP Ekstraklasa.

Could you tell us what the percentage difference is if we are talking about choosing Spain instead of Turkey?

Staying at a training camp in Spain is about 15% more expensive than Turkey.

Many fans are wondering when the financial report will be announced. Can the CEO reveal when this will be?

I would like to point out, because many people may not be aware of it, that the preparation of such a document is a time-consuming process that involves not only accounting but also the legal department. I think we will announce our financial report at the beginning of February. It will be even better than last year. As a reminder, last year we made a profit of EUR 2.3 million.

Fans liked our films from cult Polish comedies announcing contracts
with football players. Are we going to have any more transfers coming into our team?

We would like to acquire one more player to join the blue and white colours of PGE FKS Stali Mielec. We are intensively researching the market and have selected a few footballers. Of course, if the coaching staff after returning from Spain decides that there is no such need, then with the squad we have at the moment, we will fight in the spring round of PKO BP Ekstraklasa.

Does the President take into account the possibility of not fully filling the youth limit?

I don’t want to think about it because it’s throwing money in the bin, but in an ultra-extreme situation we are prepared for a minimum penalty. The most important thing for us is the PKO BP Ekstraklasa
and we will subordinate everything to give joy to the people of Mielec next season, because PGE FKS Stal Mielec is a showcase of our city and the entire province.
