Interview with Olaf Les – PGE FKS Stal Mielec Academy player

A chance to present himself and develop his skills during the preparatory camp was given to a talented player of the PGE FKS Stali Mielec Academy – Olaf Leś. During the training camp we talked to our young goalkeeper.

Olaf how did you react to the information that the training staff decided that you should participate in the training camp in Spain?

I was very happy that the coaches saw potential in me and made the decision for me to participate in Spain in preparation for the start of the league. Of course, I will do my best not to let their trust down and to perform to the best of my ability in training.

There must also have been equal joy at home when you told your parents?

Yes, it’s true. My parents are very supportive of me and always believe in me, so when I told them the news from the club that I was flying with the first team to Spain there was great joy throughout the house. The fact that I will be taking part in the preparation camp shows that my football path is going in the right direction.

You are still a young player, but what would you point to as your strengths as a goalkeeper at the moment, and what do you still need to work on in your game?

For sure, reflexes and reaction time is my strong point. As you said, I’m still a young player, so I want to develop in every aspect of my game. I’m working a lot on improving my footwork and I can already see the effects of this training.

Have you been participating in training with the first team for a long time now? How do you feel about training
with the more experienced players?

Training under coach Kamil Beszczynski with Mateusz Kochalski, Konrad Jałocha and Mateusz Dudek has developed me a lot. Often the training units are very strong,
but this makes me develop even faster. Also the goalkeepers who are more experienced than me help me a lot by giving me valuable advice. There is a fantastic atmosphere in the team, which
which means that I can always count on the help of others.

Which goalkeeper do you look up to? Do you have an idol of your own?

This is quite an interesting situation because I am a fan of FC Barcelona, but the player who is my idol and whose game I model myself on is Iker Casillas.

Last but not least, what are your resolutions for 2024? Have you set any individual sporting goals for yourself?

With humility and keeping my feet firmly on the ground, I am looking to the future, but I want to do my best to still make my debut for the first team of PGE FKS Stal Mielec in 2024.
