From the Stala club chronicle – there was a match against Wisła Płock (part 35)

It was not a good season for Stal. The second-league team, with only a few players left after relegation from the top division who had still played in the UEFA Cup less than two years earlier, looked average in the spring. The loss to leader Radomiak was already too big six queues before the end of the competition, as it amounted to six points, and after this match it increased by another one.

The meeting itself was at an average level from the first minutes. Throughout the match, the Steelmen built their actions on the basis of 1000 passes, playing the ball mainly across the pitch, as if the opponent’s goal was set opposite the stands. Despite the fact that the opponent occupied the relegation place and did not present sufficient football arguments to beat our team on that day, Mielanie created three opportunities to score a goal in this competition.

In the 42nd minute, when the ball passed Bolbotovskiy after a pass and fell unexpectedly to Latka’s feet, he fatally missed. 23 minutes after the break, blue and white defender Zuba hit the post from close range. In the 84th minute, however, there was a lot of scrambling in front of the visitors’ goal, but several consecutive strikes and strikes from the attacking and central line players of Stal stopped at the legs of the rival defenders. The Wisła team only once initiated a dangerous action that could have brought the lead, but Pachelski’s head strike in the 72nd minute, after a free kick, went straight into the hands of our goalkeeper Witek Pazdan.
