From the Stala club chronicle – there was a match against Cracovia (part 26)
Saturday’s trip to Cracovia for the match, concluding the second-league struggles of the 1965/66 season,
with leader Cracovia, who had already celebrated their successive promotion to the First Division (to this day, it is the team with the most promotions to the top division in our country), turned out to be extremely successful. Before the match itself, the players from Mielec presented their opponents with a bouquet of flowers, congratulating them on their promotion. The hosts came out practically
the hosts appeared in practically their strongest line-up and started the match with an extremely strong blow. As early as the 5th minute of the match, they took the lead when Krzysztof Hausner scored after a pass into the lane by Dawidczyński. However, less than 20 minutes had passed and from a seemingly harmless
from a seemingly harmless long-range shot by Mielec’s attack manager Stanislaw Stój, who comes from Mikulczyce (now a district of Zabrze), it became 1-1. Mielec continued to attack until the end of the first half, but the hosts’ offensive actions were also dangerous, but were stopped by Wiesław Pytlos, who was well disposed on that day.
The second half was already a concert performed by our eleven. Not 300 seconds had passed
and they already had two more goals to their credit. First, Andrzej Barglik, introduced after the break, took advantage of one of the Cracovians’ defenders’ carelessness, and then Stój again found a way into the net. Pasy were still trying to shake off the Mielec advantage, but after a few minutes their enthusiasm was definitely extinguished. Then Zygmunt Pietraszewski (61st minute) decided to make a quick rally down the right and outpaced Michna. Then, less than two minutes before the end of regulation time, once again Barglik found a way to further aggravate the disheartened local goalkeeper.
