During Saturday’s Podkarpacie Derby between FKS Stal Mielec and Stal Rzeszów, we had the pleasure of welcoming Mr Mieczysław Golba – Senator of the Republic of Poland and President of the Podkarpacie Football Association. He was accompanied in Mielec by a delegation from the Podkarpacie Football Association, which further emphasised the significance of this exceptional match.
We are delighted that representatives of the Podkarpacie Football Association were with us during a match of such importance to our region. The Podkarpacie Derby is an event of particular sporting and symbolic significance, and the presence of the Podkarpackie Football Association officials was an expression of unity, mutual respect and good cooperation for the development of football in our province.
During the match, Jacek Klimek, Chairman of the Board of FKS Stal Mielec S.A., presented Mieczysław Golba with a commemorative club shirt and a platter prepared to mark the Podkarpacie Derby. This was a gesture highlighting the significance of the derby clash, whilst also serving as a token of appreciation for his commitment to the development of football in Podkarpacie.
There was also a beautiful touch referencing our club’s history. Mieczysław Golba presented Chairman Jacek Klimek with a commemorative platter to mark the 50th anniversary of Stal Mielec winning the Polish championship. This symbolic moment served as a reminder of one of the most significant successes in the history of Mielec football and was an expression of remembrance for our club’s great history.
Saturday evening was therefore not only a celebration of derby excitement, but also an opportunity to highlight the excellent cooperation between FKS Stal Mielec and the Podkarpackie Football Association. We are delighted that during such an important match we were able to host President Mieczysław Golba and the entire delegation from the Podkarpackie Football Association, and together create the atmosphere of a football festival in Podkarpacie.
