From the Stal club chronicle – there was a match against Miedzia Legnica (part 32)

The next meeting with Miedz did not take place until the back of the Premier League in 2016. The match started with the attacks of the Mielec players, among whom Szymon Sobczak was the driving force of the offensive actions. Already in the 4th minute, he failed to intercept a ball sharply centred into the rival’s penalty area. In the 37th minute, Buczek lost a duel with Miedzi defenders. In response, five minutes before the break, a later player of the Mielec team, Finn Forsell struck from behind the 16, but his shot from the left leg was easily caught in the hands of Stal’s goalkeeper Koziol. One minute before the break, Cholewiak played the ball between two defenders. Sobczak found himself at 13 metres, in an ideal position, one-on-one with Miedz goalkeeper Kapsa and failed to beat him.

In the second half, things got a lot more interesting on the pitch. Just seconds later, there was a long pass from his own half to the right wing to Sobczak. He fed it immediately into the penalty area and one of the visitors’ defenders deflected it awkwardly towards the far post. There, it was headed into the goal by Krystian Getinger. The visitors immediately rushed in to make up for the loss, but Koziol was well on his way. From the 65th minute, after a second yellow card and the consequent red card for Bierzała, the Steelmen were forced to cope in ten. However, Miedz could only afford two more dangerous actions, which Bartkowiak tried to finish off. First, in the 73rd minute, he struck under the crossbar from 16 metres, and three minutes later, in the penalty area, he shot on target, but the Mielec goalkeeper instinctively flicked the ball over the goal twice.
