In the fifth match in history between the two teams, this time at the third level in the hierarchy of our league football, there was a goalless 1-1 draw. The match played on Saturday, on a sunny afternoon, started with our team attacking down the left side, but after a sharp ball was delivered into the sixth metre, the late Łętocha failed to touch it. It was from this side of the pitch that Prokić charged several times. In the 25th minute, after a quick counter-attack, the visitors fired a head shot from eight metres out, but the ball hit the Steel defender Bierzala. Six minutes later, Prokić, active on the day, intercepted the ball from a rival near the centre of the pitch and, after a solo rally, fired a powerful shot from the corner of the penalty area, but the ball flew just over the crossbar. In response, turning 180 degrees in the penalty area, Brągiel struck too lightly and straight at our goalkeeper – Libera. Three minutes before going down to the break, the Steelmen were lucky as, after a flat strike by Brazilian Leândro, the ball bounced off the post. Mielczanie responded with a centre from the right by Żeglenie, but Sulewski’s header from close range sent the ball flying along the goal.
The second 45 minutes were much more interesting, if only because two goals were scored. First, Cholewiak, who was introduced to the pitch in the first half, tried to surprise the visitors’ goalkeeper from an acute angle. The same player then kicked too lightly at the Radomiak goal in the 50th minute. Six minutes later, after a soft pass from the right side of the visitors’ penalty area, Cholewiak headed in, and the ball, having bounced off Zalepa’s head, flew over the goal. 62. one minute turned out to be unlucky for the blue-and-whites, as after a throw-in from the left side of the penalty area, the Steel defenders left David Kwiek unattended, who with a head shot from the line of the goal area led his team to the lead in this match. The hosts did not break down and ambitiously strived to make up for the loss. They wasted two good opportunities when, among others, Prokić missed the ball. They clinched it in the 76th minute of the game, when first Nowak hit the visitors’ goal. Then, the same player missed the ball deflected by one of the Radom players, and with a clever left-footed shot (from the air) Andreja Prokić scored. By the end of the match, both teams were unable to create any more convenient opportunities to tip the balance of victory in their favour.
