From the Stala club chronicle – there was a match against Slask Wrocław (part 29)

The Stalowcy , as the independent leader of the table, once again did not disappoint the hopes of their supporters and brought home a set of points from the Olimpiyskiy Stadium in Wrocław. The first moments of the match were marked by an extremely even game, as both the hosts’ central line and the blue-and-white strived by all means to control the game in this part of the green turf. Thanks to the good play of the defensive lines, the goalkeepers of both teams did not strain themselves in this match. However, it was the Miele players who were the marginally better team over the full 90 minutes, as they outperformed the Wroclawians in terms of chemistry, tactical maturity and speed, thanks to the good attitude of the staff. In the first half, our players failed to penetrate into the immediate vicinity of Kalinowski’s goal. The home team also failed to counter with a composed action and both teams went down to the locker room for the regulation break without scoring.

The second half brought resolution, as our players turned up the tempo even more and created two excellent opportunities, which I will write about below. The ubiquitous conductor Henryk Kasperczak ruled indivisibly in midfield, with both Lato and Domarski supporting him with charges. Śląsk pressed harder for only 10 minutes of this part of the game. However, the 67th minute of the second half arrived. The initiator of this action was Sekulski, who passed the ball to the well positioned Domarski. The latter, however, spotted Henryk Kasperczak running in from 15 metres and with a strong shot from that distance he put the ball in the net. A minute later, Śląsk could have equalised, but Sybis’ strike from close range was defended by Kukla. Seven minutes before the end of the match, Kasperczak, who was the best on the pitch that day, could have scored again. On the initiative of Lata, who played around two opponents, the ball found its way to the player’s feet. At full speed, he struck at the goal vacated by the local goalkeeper, but the oncoming Rachwalski cleverly intervened. Less than 120 seconds later, thanks to the main referee’s whistle, signalling a rather controversial offside position, Stal kept a clean sheet..
